5 Preparations You Should Make Before Using Swim Wear

What’s the first thing you do before putting on your swimwear?

If you’re like most people, you probably put it on and wonder why it doesn’t fit right. Because of this, swimwear is usually not something we think about until we need to use it. Unfortunately, by then it’s too late – no amount of preparation will make up for spending a day at the pool in ill-fitting swimwear.

To ensure that your time at the pool or beach this summer is as comfortable as possible, take some time beforehand to find out what works best for you. For high-quality swimwear, check Bombshellbay Swimwear.

1) Wear Your Swimsuit Around The House

No matter how small your bathing suit was when you bought it two years ago, there’s absolutely no way it still fits.

If you want to be sure that it’s going to fit right when you go in the water, try it on now. Make sure that your swimsuit isn’t too loose around your thighs and waist, and that there is no extra material in any of the leg holes or back area.

2) Get The Right Fit At A Swim Shop

If none of your old swimsuits works anymore, take some time to get fitted for a new one. This way you can ensure that the sizing works well with your body type, plus find out if there are any other tricks to get the best possible fit. You may ask yourself “Do I even need to do this?” But making an appointment at a pool shop is well worth your time, as you’re likely to save money in the end.

3) Swimming In Shallow Water

One of the keys to finding a perfect fit is experimenting with different styles and brands until you find what works best. If you want to test out a new style but don’t want to shell out a ton of cash on a one-time use suit, head down to the shallow end of the pool, grab some goggles and try it out there instead.

Even if you can’t see how it looks from far away or when doing flip turns, it’s still important for comfort that you feel confident in your swimwear before making the purchase.

4) When To Shop For Swim Suits

Before summer begins (May 1), and again when summer ends (Sept. 30).

“If you wait until you need a suit, then it’s too late,” says Amanda Rose, founder of PrettyFit Swimwear. “Getting the proper size, style and fit before May means that your swimsuit will be ready to go for Memorial Day (May 27). Most people don’t shop during the summer months because they think they’ll get a better deal if they wait. While sales can save some money, nothing beats getting exactly what you want.”

Amanda also recommends replacing your swimwear every two years. Since we’re not all swimming daily like Olympians or diving into Olympic pools, it shouldn’t wear out any faster than that anyway.

5) When To Replace Swimsuits

Every two years.

“People are hesitant to replace their suits because they think it might be an indicator that they need to lose weight,” says Amanda. “I sometimes remind people that it has nothing to do with their weight or body, and is simply about the suit-wearing out over time.”

So if you don’t want your skin to become irritated by a bathing suit with worn elastic, make sure you get it replaced before the summer begins!
